CHEMICAL CLEANING OF THE BUGEY GSS REHEATERS.
The technical equipment of the company Lainsa is working nowadays in the chemical cleaning of the GSS (dryers - reheaters) in groups 2 and 3.
The GSS role is to dry the steam circuits between high and low pressure.
Over time, the magnetite formed by the filings that are produced during the several types of maintenance can clog these circuits.
Until now, when the differential pressure between GSS input and output was higher than data constructors and highlighted a blockage, the tube stacks were replaced. But UTO has recently qualified a new chemical cleaning procedure.
After an initial mechanical cleaning that is done with the help of brushes and high pressure cleaners in the open circuit, a number of tests with helium are carried out in order to discover and repair leaks. Then, the chemical cleaning consists of making several types of acids circulate until the iron concentration records decrease.
40 people in 3 shifts of 8 hours, and bilingual team leaders have been involved in these works, and they have been done in the four GSS in Group 3 and the two GSS in Group 2.
It is the first time that this process starts in Bugey.
